Notification Regarding State of Emergency and Office Closings Sept. 12, 2018

Mayor David McNeill has declared a State of Emergency for the Town of Southern Pines effective at 5 pm September 12th based on National Weather Service predictions of heavy rains, high winds, flooding and power outages across the Sandhills Region.

Town offices and facilities, to include the Library and Recreation and Parks programs, will be closed beginning Thursday September 13th through Sunday September 16th. The Thursday route for trash pickup has been canceled and will resume next Thursday...

The State of Emergency declared in Southern Pines will continue until further notice. Power has been restored to the Finance and Planning Office and the building has been reopened to the public. The Town of Southern Pines Library continues to experience difficulties with power and will remain closed until further notice.

TRASH ONLY from the Monday and Tuesday garbage routes is being picked up today and the route schedule will return to normal Wednesday September 19th. Recycling and yard waste pickup will resume on Monday September 24th.

Duke Energy has successfully restored power to most areas, however individual addresses may still be experiencing problems. Issues regarding ongoing power difficulties should be directed to Duke Energy at 1-800-419-6356. The Town does not have scheduling authority over Duke line crews or their contractors.
