  1. AARP Tax Help at the Library

    A.A.R.P. trained volunteers are available at the library to assist middle and low-income seniors in filing their tax returns. There is no charge for this service. Help is available on a first-come, first-served basis. You must come in person and register on site, there are no appointments given by phone.

    Baby Bunnies Storytime for ages birth-18 months engages parents and children in early literacy brain-building practices and will be held Feb 6, 13. 20 and 27 at 10:30 am with a duplicate session at 11:00 am at the Library. Capacity is limited to 20 babies and their caregivers per session.

Library's Explorations: A Forum for Adults

  1. Explorations: Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Scholars Johanna Schubert & Branka Panic

    February 25, 2018, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Southern Pines Public Library

    Build Community @ Your Library! On Sun. Feb. 25 from 3-4, meet current Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Scholars, Johanna Schubert and Branka Panic. Schubert, a cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist , and Panic, a civil society professor, will give an overview of the program and talk about their respective areas of study. Joanna will speak about her background working with organizations such as Red Cross and the United Nations to reduce PTSD for humanitarian aid workers in international conflict zones. Branka will share how growing up in a war-torn society has influenced her work providing humanitarian aid to refugees and her study of effective strategies of conflict prevention, resolution, and sustainable peace.
