  1. 9th annual Peeps© Diorama Contest

    April 1, 2017 - April 30, 2017 @ Southern Pines Public Library

    The 9th annual Peeps© Diorama Contest will run from Apr. 1 until Apr.30, with judging May 1. The contest, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, invites participants to submit a diorama depicting their favorite book with Peeps© as the main characters. Digital videos are also accepted.   1. Family Day at the Library

    April 22, 2017, All Day @ Southern Pines Public Library

    Family Day at the Library will be held all day on Sat., Apr. 22. The day will celebrate children and families learning financial management skills. Craft tables will be out all day, a special “Make your Own Piggy Bank” program will run from 11:00 a.m. - noon, and families can play money smarts games and activities at 2:00 p.m. Teens can start a financial adventure at 3:00 p.m.

  1. Birds in the Sandhills Bluebird Houses - AND - the Party for the Pine

    April 22, 2017, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ Weymouth Woods State Park

    Build your own Bluebird House! All ages will enjoy this FREE event as Southern Pines Recreation joins with Weymouth Woods and Lowe Home Improvement to help participants learn about birds and their habitats. Wear hiking shoes and bring binoculars. Participants should bring a hammer or battery operated screwdriver. Children will need help from a parent or guardian. AND.. Celebrate with Weymouth Woods as they honor the Oldest Known Living Longleaf Pine--468 years old! Food vendors, chainsaw carving, crafts, turpentine demonstrations, natural history display, Play Mobile and Birthday Cake!
