The Town of Southern Pines had a discharge of untreated wastewater on May 1, 2022 of an estimated 50,350 gallons along a sewer easement. The untreated wastewater was discharged into Reservoir Park Lake/Mill Creek.
The Town Utilities Division was notified of the event May 1, 2022 at approximately 6:45 pm. All efforts to mitigate wastewater release were taken. Repairs were completed and system returned to service May 2, 2022 at approximately 1:45 pm and cleanup/sanitizing efforts were conducted.
