There is still time to join the Summer Reading Program at the Southern Pines Public Library. The program began June 1st and ends August 7th. The summer slide refers to a decline in reading and literacy skills that happens during the months when school is not in session. This year, it is more important than ever to offset this learning loss. Reading twenty minutes a day, whether individually or as a family, will help children of all ages retain these important skills. Teens and adults can set a great example for the children in their lives and in the community by modeling good reading habits.
Readers of all ages are encouraged to register online using the Beanstack Tracker App. Participants will be entered into a prize drawing at the end of the summer. A prize basket drawing will be held for each age group (adults, teens, kids, and preschool children). Earn tickets by reading more - the more you read, the more tickets you earn, the more times you can enter your name into the prize drawing!
