[ARCHIVED] Annual Hydrant Testing

Over the next few weeks, Southern Pines Fire Department will be conducting their annual hydrant maintenance program.
This program includes flowing and maintenance of each hydrant in your area. This maintenance program is important because it allows us to verify that the hydrant operates and flows properly in case of a fire and it also has an impact on your homeowner’s insurance.
The flowing of fire hydrants may cause some sediment in the water lines to become agitated which may cause the water color to be rusty. If discolored water is seen coming from your faucet, allow the water to run for a few minutes until it clears up, also use care when washing clothes.
The discoloration of the water does not present a health risk.
