The town maintains town-owned paved streets and dirt roads in the town. State system roads are maintained by North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) at 910-947-2233. For State roads, you can find out more information or make a complaint at the state DOT website.Public Works
There are also private streets in town. If you live in a gated community, your street is probably maintained by your homeowners association or developer. -

Residents with handicaps and disabilities may request to have their recycling containers picked up on their front porch by submitting a Disabled Consideration Request. The request forms can be obtained by calling the town at 910-692-1983, ext. 6225.Public Works

Moore County operates a number of convenient drop off locations where you can recycle electronics. The nearest locations to Southern Pines are on Highway 5 between Aberdeen and Pinehurst and on Highway 15/501 at Hillcrest, near Carthage.Public Works

Sewer backups are not just a 'bad smell' in your house. Sewer backups are usually first indicated by a combination of your toilet not flushing properly and none of your drains working properly. You may also see sewage coming into your house from your toilets or drains.Public Works

A water main break is where the line in the street or leading up to your house before the water meter has broken and is releasing water. If the water is leaking after the meter, shut off the water at the meter and call a plumber. If the water is leaking before it arrives at the meter (usually seen by large amounts of water in the yard or street), please call public works at 910-692-1983.Public Works
